MIL licked my 8 month old daughter's hand? Is this weird or am I over exaggerating?

So my daughter was eating a yoghurt and MIL put my daughter's hand in her mouth and licked the yoghurt off of each finger... I was in shock! She had a cloth in the other hand which she was wiping my daughter's mouth with but she then continued to lick her hands clean... I was in so much disbelief that I didn't say anything to her but I don't think this is acceptable?! What does everyone else think? It's strange right?

My friend's nanny did it with her baby.

I assumed it was a posh Norlands thing.

You couldn't pay me to lick yoghurt from a baby hand 😂 but I think it's cute, not weird.

I do that to my own child… so I wouldn’t be grossed out enough to make a post on it but I might think they were being a bit brave

That's revolting.

@BlackShuck3 Can we please not use 'intimate' & 'baby' in the same sentence! That's just wrong on so many levels

My MIL does it to my kids (baby and toddler) and it makes me feel sick. But she's amazing and I love her so much, the kids love her so much, she looks after them while we work and anything we need. So I just say nothing 🤣

If I was in your shoes op I would give her a look that made sure she never did that again, it's a power move she's trying to gain ownership of your child.

🙄

Weird 1000000%. She might not find it funny when she has something god awful within next couple days though 🤣

I think it's one of those things that's normal in some families and not in others, and if it's how she dealt with her children, it was probably just a natural response that she did without thinking.

Hmm bit weird she licked the whole hand clean lol but i have done it to my own kids, where they have dipped their hands in their yogurt and then thrust their hand into my face to ‘offer’ me some and ive licked it off one finger n gone ‘mmm yummy’, mostly to encourage them to eat it too cause mum likes it, plus they giggle like hell so its cute lol xx
