3.5 month old rolled onto his front but won’t sleep without a swaddle

My 3.5 year old boy rolled onto his front for this first time this morning in his cot.
He still has his startle reflex and will not be put down as as soon as he touches the mattress his arms fly everywhere and he is wide awake. If he stays asleep it will be for 5-10 minutes until his arms wake him up 😭
The past 4 weeks he’s been sleeping between 7-11 hour stretches at night in a woombie swaddle or the arms up swaddle up.

How on earth do I transition him out of his swaddle now that he has rolled? 😢
Any tips very welcome! Thank you

I think if he can now roll over there is no transitioning out of the swaddle, you just have to immediately stop for safety and ride out the tricky phase!

It took my baby about a week or so out of the swaddle to sleep without arms flying about everywhere or scratching her head. She was also around 3 months old at the time. I did try both arms out and it was a disaster, so then I did one arm out for around 5 days before going to both arms out, and it was much better. You will still probably have a few rough nights where you don’t get a lot of sleep unfortunately, but I do think they need to be de-swaddled as soon as they roll.
