Hello everyone!

I hope you can help. I'm doing a solo daddy day out and feel like I have been told a million times what to put in the baby bag but I can't remember.

What are the essentials I need to put in. Ingot nappies, change of clothes and food but feel
Like there are things in missing.

Your help is very much appreciated!

Wipes, tissues, snacks. Also don't forget the baby!

Dummy if they use one, nappy cream. Suncream and sun hat. Spare T-shirt for you. I always had calpol in my bag too - probably only used a handful of times but you never know. I am an overpacker…

Clothes
nappy / wipes / nappy bag
milk / food

They’re 9 months old. You’re over complicating this.

Also, at the risk of sounding snippy, if you’ve been told a million times and still have to ask mumsnet, start listening.

Do you need to be told a million times how to do the basics at work? No? So why, after 9 months, can you not get ready for a day with your child by yourself?

Come on, for the sake of you, your child and your relationship, get a bit of a grip here.

This has to be a piss take. 9 months and you don't know what goes in the changing bag... hopefully you're just on the windup.

Spudthespanner · 26/08/2024 19:14

If you're really that daft, bring your wife a box of chocolates or whatever she'd love, apologise profusely, say you're a total knob head but could she please tell you one last time.

Write it down on a piece of paper as she says it all and staple it to your forehead/stick it in a pocket in the changing bag

Final step: leave your wife alone and crack on with it yourself.

I was always an over packer!
Change of clothes.
I had a separate grab and go pouch inside with wipes/butt cream/nappies/poop bags/slim foldable change mat
Snacks/food pouch
Small anti bac wipes
Milk/bottle
Mini vasaline
I think that was it. And bits for me too.

steakpieandchips · 26/08/2024 19:21

Oh I also had a pouch of meds.
Calpol sachets/plasters etc

OtterOnAPlane · 26/08/2024 20:48

What did you pack last time you took the baby out?

(You have taken the baby out in the last 9 months, haven't you?)

They hate men on MN OP.

your bag sounds fine. Enjoy your day out.

and other posters, please be kind. For all you know this IS the first time he has taken the kid out because his ex is nasty and controlling and hasn’t let him, and it’s actually his mum/sister prompting him. OP I hope that’s not the case, and it’s your first time as previously you have always done stuff with your partner, but people on here are vipers!

TheLette · 26/08/2024 20:56

A few baby toys for the baby to play with, and teething toys if needed.

Yeh that's what's happening. It's the nasty controlling ex.

The point is we don’t know. He may indeed be a useless man. But we don’t know. So why not choose between a) giving the guy the advice he is asking for or b) ignoring the thread and moving on, rather than c) getting nasty.

Poppalina37 · 26/08/2024 22:15

Nappies, wet wipes, sudocrem, nappy sacks, baby milk and bottle, food and snacks. Dummy, bib, spoon, calpol, spare clothes x oh and some toys and blanket for nap time x

mondaytosunday · 26/08/2024 22:24

Definitely a change of clothes - exploding nappy, food/drink spill, vomit etc. Just common sense what you need really.
