My baby is booked in for MMR today. I know it’s 100% best he gets it as the alternative is not worth thinking about but I’m sitting here feeling worried and guilty 😭 worried incase he has a bad reaction or feels awful for ages. Just worried in general. Looking for some words of reassurance 🙏❤️

We had ours last week and she was absolutely fine! Bit of an ordeal getting them done as 2 nurses did each side at the same time but I guess made it quicker?

Little girl was absolutely fine- cried for 3 mins then was offered her favourite snack and the tears stopped!

Was just a little more clingy the rest of the day but no temperature or anything!!

It will be fine and is definitely safer for your baby in the long run. Measles in particular is having a resurgence due to vaccination rates dropping and is a really horrible illness - which is preventable.
Be prepared for your baby to feel unwell for a few days and they may need pain relief, keep it low key and don't plan on doing much.
You are doing the right thing.

Our one year vaccinations were the easiest yet and the only ones where DD had no side effects. Try not to worry yet as there may be no need and have the Calpol on hand just in case.

We ended up in paeds at 4 months due to the menB so i was nervous about the 1y jabs. MMR at 1y and 3y4m was ok. A few hours of being a bit cuddly and needing a dose of Calpol. She did get the rash at day 10 but was fine in herself and able to do day to day life.
By contrast my dad has eye sight problems due to measles and had to have an operation to correct it and is lucky to still have pretty good eyesight in his 60s. A friend lost hearing in one ear due to measles and my uncle wad born with a heart defect and died in childhood due to complications from my grandmother contracting rubella in pregnancy. It puts recovery from vaccines into perspective for me.

Thank you for the kind words of reassurance 🙏 the vaccine are now done. He cried and I also cried but overall glad we did it. Voiced my concerns to the nurse and she pointed out that measles are circulating fairly widely now and it can be a nasty virus.
