At what age did you stop using a baby monitor?

Like most parents, once DC transitioned to his own room we got a baby monitor.

And have used it ever since.
DC is now 3.5 (moved out of a cot bed age 3) and I realised (maybe purely out of habit) we still use the baby monitor.
I don't think we even look at it any more - it's just been so routine it never occurred to us to stop.

So maybe it's time to give it up.
When did you stop using the baby monitor?

Dc is 4. We put it on when watching TV downstairs with the door shut (so dc isn't disturbed by the noises from gory TV shows), or when they're ill. It's just a sound one.

I've got a 3-year-old who sleeps at the opposite end of a long house, so I use an audio monitor at night. I gently suggested the other day that if he needs a wee during the night he could maybe just... get up by himself and go to the bathroom. He said 'no I think I'll just shout Mama I need a wee'.

Still using ours at 14.

I use it to tell him dinners ready so I don't have to shout up the stairs

😄

A few months for our first and didn’t use it for our second. We live in very rural and quiet area so if the kids cry you can definitely hear them

We stopped when we took the bars off the cot, as after that DC generally just turned up when they needed one of us!

We never had one - small house, and l found I was so hyper-alert to the children needing us that I’d hear if they so much as turned over in bed anyway. But our neighbours with the same design of house have one so that they can come for dinner at ours once their toddlers are in bed!

Same, we had one for our first but we moved house when he was 16 months and didn’t use it after that as I’ve never not heard him DH now … never used one for DD.
