Which we have only had for 4 days. I can't understand where the fear has come from as up until a year ago we had 2 dogs, which he had grown up with. if the pup comes near him he screams and yells and tried to climb on the table or the chair. of course, pup thinks he is playing and tries to climb up with him. He gets really upset, real tears and everything.
Any suggestions on how to help?

has the puppy nipped him ?

I would try and see if you can get him to feed the puppy and maybe stroke it gently when it is asleep.

And talk to him about what is worrying him. Tell him he has to be honest because you can't help if you don't understand the problem.

And talk about the puppy being a baby - relate it to how a human baby needs to be handled differently from a more grown up child.

As far as I know it hasn't nipped him. However he will try and nip feet, which could be part fo the problem. He gets really hysterical whenever it appears!
