My son loves history and loves a period drama/binge watch. Something we enjoy doing together.

I was thinking of letting him watch 'gladiator' and 'saving private ryan' with me.

They are both over 20 years old and rated 15 back then.

No sexual scenes that I can remember. Obviously violence but in context of the story.

Do I wait a bit or would you go for it?

If he'll watch subtitles he might like Ip Man and its sequels as well - WWII from the Chinese perspective.

Watch any film first, don't presume you remember it.

We got a bit caught out with Monthy Python. Holy Grail is a 12... we forgot about the Castle Anthrax scene!

Hidden Figures is a good one as well for more serious history

Agree about watching it first to remind yourself of scenes. I totally forgot full frontal nudity in Life of Brian Grin parenting fail, we laugh about it now but since then I made sure to watch every film first before showing it to the children.

Mine have watched 15 films since they were that age.

They watch 18's now at 13 and 14.
