My ds still can't ride a bike at 7

Hi
We have tried teaching him but he seems to struggle even pushing the peddles.

As soon as he trys he falls off and he gets into the most awful moods about it.
He even has trouble peddling with stabilisers unless if he is on a slight slope.

Is this unusual for a 7 year old to not be riding a bike yet.
I have seen much younger children racing about on them.

I taught myself at 10 so I could take the cycling test with my friends at school. Prior to that I'd refused, as trips out to teach me always seemed to end up with my dad pissed off and me in tears. DS1 was around 8 when he let us take the stabilisers off, DS2 is nearly 8 and we're trying to persuade him to try but he doesn't want to (they both prefer scooters tbh) Dd who's 4 has no interest in riding her bike either, she also prefers to zip along on her scooter.

Different kids have different skills.

Is there any other children around to teach him.

We live in a quiet cul de sac and all the children learnt in our street from each other.

DH won't take DD's stabilisers off, she's 7.5 and well co-ordinated.

Mine finally learnt at 10

Like chockypot my dd has had ear problems and her balance has been skewy for her entire life. She is 7 now and just starting to get the hang of it - still struggles with going in straight line but can now at least get on and get going, and brake pretty safely. Hang in there and don't worry - it'll come.

OP you're probably loooong gone by now, but just in case... how did this end? I'm in the same boat with my 7yo add
