4 or 5 times a week. DSs are 7 and 4 and love bathing together.

Have had a major battle to feed DS ever since Christmas. Am finding bathing him much easier. . OTOH DD has suddenly turned into a human dustbin.

SPARKLER1 · 02/01/2005 22:38

Every two or three days. Always on a Sunday ready for school when also change the bedding on all our beds (lovely feeling getting into bed on a Sunday night!! - all nice and squeaky clean !). Have been known to run the bath in the middle of the day before just to cure the kids (and mine!) boredom. They love to play in a bubble bath so why not do it as a bit of fun too??

SPARKLER1 · 02/01/2005 22:38

.......saves an evening rush too!

Polgara2 · 02/01/2005 22:40

Both dd's (4 and 7) have a bath every night - its part of their bedtime routine. Can't imagine not doing tbh, but that's just us.

ChicPea · 03/01/2005 00:01

Bath DD 2.3 and DS 14mths every night. It's a good wind down which is part of their bedtime routine.

nightowl · 03/01/2005 00:12

so is 4 times a year bad then? (joke!!) i dont bath them every night. i was very frightened of bathing dd when i first had her so my friend had to do it for me for weeks (shameful i know). we got it sussed though, and shes still small enough to fit in the kitchen sink. prob 3 times a week but last summer ds was every night...you couldnt see his face for dirt.

SPARKLER1 · 03/01/2005 00:14

My kids haven't had a bath since last year!!!

(well two days ago anyway!)

kinderbob · 03/01/2005 02:05

2 showers a day for eczema. But he is 23 months so it's just a question of getting off his clothes and then pootling around in the bathroom for a few minutes and then creaming him up and pjs on. Can't imagine doing 4 though!

blueteddy · 03/01/2005 09:24

When I just had the 1 child I bathed him & washed his hair every day.
Now that I have 2 it is every other day & sometimes longer

SantaFio2 · 03/01/2005 09:26

I am exactly the same as blueteddy, mainly to do with the fact my two are using a baby bath as the bathroom is being done (has been being done for about 7 months now) my children are very tall 5 and 3 yr olds

morningpaper · 03/01/2005 10:00

DD is bathed every night because she starts to get SMELLY at the end of the day.

Then again my parents only ever bathed ME once a week on a Sunday...

I try to feed her every day.

Gwenick · 03/01/2005 12:17

The thing is with my 2 boys is that their hair doesn't need washing everyday - it's 'afro' type hair and unlike mine doesn't get manky if it's not washed for 2 or 3 days.

NameChangingMancMidlander · 03/01/2005 13:18

All 3 of mine have a bath every day. Both DSs do themselves (they share the water), all we have to do is run it and put towels out for them. 2y 5m DD is bathed nightly, by her Dad. She has sensitive skin so we have to put lotions and potions on her daily, which is more effective if applied to clean skin. It also helps relax her pre-bed, an essential part of her routine, IMO.

lulupop · 03/01/2005 13:46

I feel a bit of a weirdo after reading this thread! DS and DD get bathed daily, with DS (age 3) having his hair washed every other day. Even after a rushed and busy day, they still have to have their baths.

They quite like it though, although DS always tries to negotiate not having his hair washed. DD at 8 months doesn't get dirty exactly but I don't like the idea of any yuck that might have got under her chin.

At boarding school we were only allowed 3 baths a week, which I always hated (never liked the idea of getting into bed without washing the day off first), so maybe that's why I'm a bit fastidious about this one thing. Certainly everything else in our house is pretty chaotic!

Lonelymum · 03/01/2005 13:50

Mine tend to be bathed every day unless something gets in the way (like getting home late) but I think once every two days is more than adequate. I don't start worrying about it until they have gone three days without. (Very very rare).

annh · 03/01/2005 18:32

Ours get done about every second day, maybe more often in summer when they seem to get dusty from head to foot. However, it is often more of a "fun" activity in our house and part of the calming routine before bed so, in terms of getting dirt off, twice a week would probably be quite adequate!

duster · 03/01/2005 18:40

ds1 and ds2 have not had a bath in months.
they claim they use the shower, and as the bathroom resembles a Turkish bath and they drip water all over the house (how did i f* up when teaching them how to use a towel???) - I usually believe them.
ds3 is 4.5 months and has had 1 bath this year. When I 'm saying that in June, it'll be time to call KIm and Aggie.

highlander · 05/01/2005 02:58

every day - part of the bedtime routine since DS was 6 weeks (now 4 months).

mummyhill · 11/01/2005 12:08

I am lucky to get dd(age3) in bath once a week. I work evenings, her dad won't bath her her doesn't feel comfy with the idea. MIL dumps her in the tub on a friday. If we haven't had to busy a day i might manage it on a Sunday. She has a good wash in the sink every morning so i don't panic too much.
