Any, with children safely ensconced at their grandma's...

But failing that - I'm not sure completely mahoosive counts as boutique does it? - but the Lowry in Manchester wins every time.

Far too expensive to go more than once in a blue moon but the shopping/football (no, not them, the Blue ones) is fab (but a click away from Harvey Nicks) and the spa - where I once saw Justin Timberlake and some VERY large bouncers - is heavenly...

Now, Mr Forte, can I have my free annual pass please?

It is my home town though so I'm biased.

I prefer Eleven Didsbury Park, in that same wonderful city. Am heading there for my 30th in a few weeks.

Sadly the blues are away that weekend

ah, didsbury pk and their other one: on my list for when no longer on mat leave... Have been for afternoon tea but never stayed.

and Gt John Street looks cool also but wasn't there a footie related scandal there recently (Rags of course)?

dizzychixies · 22/03/2008 16:15

we stayed in the sumner hotel in london last sept and it was lovely

MonkeybirdisboredWITHbuns · 22/03/2008 16:15

I also was surprised to really really enjoy staying in the Hotel Du Vin in Birmingham - I know, I'm beginning to sound like a complete arse, but most of these were gifts... - the spa there was lovely, the rooms were spectacular, food/wine great and Birmingham was much more fun than I was expecting.

tiredemma · 22/03/2008 16:16

Birmingham is fab isnt it Monkey? what did you get up to whilst you were here??

MonkeybirdisboredWITHbuns · 22/03/2008 16:19

we had no children! so I'd like to say we just drank and shagged, but no we slept...

We did brave outside and did a horrible amount of shopping, used the HdV's spa, went to a comedy night, walked round the canal basin and watched lots of outdoor performance stuff in the main square and did lots of Brum location spotting
