But failing that - I'm not sure completely mahoosive counts as boutique does it? - but the Lowry in Manchester wins every time.

Far too expensive to go more than once in a blue moon but the shopping/football (no, not them, the Blue ones) is fab (but a click away from Harvey Nicks) and the spa - where I once saw Justin Timberlake and some VERY large bouncers - is heavenly...

Now, Mr Forte, can I have my free annual pass please?

It is my home town though so I'm biased.

I prefer Eleven Didsbury Park, in that same wonderful city. Am heading there for my 30th in a few weeks.

Sadly the blues are away that weekend

we stayed in the sumner hotel in london last sept and it was lovely

I also was surprised to really really enjoy staying in the Hotel Du Vin in Birmingham - I know, I'm beginning to sound like a complete arse, but most of these were gifts... - the spa there was lovely, the rooms were spectacular, food/wine great and Birmingham was much more fun than I was expecting.

Birmingham is fab isnt it Monkey? what did you get up to whilst you were here??

we had no children! so I'd like to say we just drank and shagged, but no we slept...

We did brave outside and did a horrible amount of shopping, used the HdV's spa, went to a comedy night, walked round the canal basin and watched lots of outdoor performance stuff in the main square and did lots of Brum location spotting

Er what's a boutique hotel? I also have a 30th in a few weeks .......

we stayed in the sanderson on our wedding night, and it was AMAZING

We've just been at Weston Manor Hotel w/o the children. It was lovely.

Barnsley House hotel in Cirencester..going there again in 4 weeks with DS ...please please let him not be ill so we have to cancel!
