Are isofix bases easy to install?

Hello ladies,

Just wondering if isofix bases are easy to install? We are expecting our first baby soon and have ordered the cybex cloud car seat with the 360 base.

The base itself is quite expensive so wondering if anyone had any thoughts on whether it's feasible to only have one base and swap it regularly between my car and DH car?

When I go back to work I will be dropping baby off at DGP for childcare and DH will be picking up so it would be getting changed over between cars basically everyday.

Thank you! X

I wouldn't. I'd suck up the cost of buying two bases though I realise that's not possible for everyone.

I’ve never used a baby seat with an isofix belt. They are not needed! Once you know how to strap them with a belt it’s an easy one min job.

Isofix belt? I think you've misunderstood what Isofix is. It's two hooks that bolt the base onto the chassis of the car. Then you can easily just lift the car seat in & out with one hand. Just clicks on & off. The added bonus is that if you have an Isofix car seat, they also click straight onto shopping trolleys & pushchair bases. It's also been proven to be safer in the event of an accident

@NoOrdinaryMorning sorry - you are right my message autocorrected base to belt!

But just for the purposes of the thread. Belted baby seats are every bit as safe as isofix ones - once you install them correctly. It’s incorrect installation that means isofix companies can claim they are safer! My car seat clicks straight onto my pushchair without an isofix base (usually the base stays fixed in the car!). I find it far more practical without a base.
