Snuzpod vs Chicco next to me

These are the two cribs Ive been recommended(both by people who have only tried one).
What would you recommend based on ease of setup, ease of opening up for bf, stability
and most importantly :
safety(I see potential tilt issues on reviews with chicco but assume thats only if set up wrong?)

I didn’t have a chicco next to me so can’t comment on that. I had a snuzpod and really liked it. It aligned perfectly to my bed and secured easily. It felt very sturdy and I liked that I could life the basinet off if I needed to. The side panel zip was great for easy feeding.
My dd was a small baby so she was able to stay in the cot until she was almost 9 months old but the moment she started pulling herself up was when we moved her as it wasn’t deep enough to be safe.

We used the chicco. Very easy set up and portable. Felt sturdy especially when strapped to bed. Tilt I'm assuming you mean the up down feature at each end? Not an issue for us as we just kept it flat as per safe sleep guidance so we didn't use that particular feature. I loved it and was very happy with it. Only thing I would say was that I found it hard to get sheets to fit and I got them off the same brand which is expensive. Maybe should have done more research to find others but I was too sleep deprived!

I hated the next to me. It was always in the way and I didn’t liek it was attached so couldn’t move it away easily. Opening and closing the side woke Ds so we just left it open.
My Ds could pull himself up around 4 months so then it wasn’t safe to use

We used a next to me with our first and I hated it. Threw it away once she outgrew it and have bought something else this time round.

It was clumpy and never aligned with our bed properly, so I felt like I was going to roll into her cot. Have heard good things about the snuzpod though, we've gone for the Bassinest this time as I'm having a section.

We had a Snuzpod and loved it.
It fit well with the look of our room, so didn't feel like a big lump, was easily propped up for our reflux baby, easy to move, and the top comes off so you can carry baby around in it.

I never used for BF, but the side zip was easy enough so can't see it being complicated!

Grassisntalwaysgreen · 20/01/2024 10:58

Yes seems to be the acid reflux tilt. Probably wouldnt use it either as would be scared of forgetting!

We have a maxi cosi iora air and it’s great and was recommended to us by 3 different friends who had used it with their babies including one who had the chicco with their first and much preferred this for their second. 6 week old baby seems happy in it and very easy to set up etc

justanothermanicmonday1 · 20/01/2024 11:17

I have used to next to me twice and I like it! No issues.

DuploTrain · 20/01/2024 11:21

I’ve only had the snuzpod but I never actually opened the side. I would sit up to breastfeed anyway so would just lift the baby out.
It is easy to open though, it’s just a zip.

There’s also lots of secondhand ones around and the fabric comes off so you can wash it in the machine. Which is also a handy feature if you’re planning any future babies and it’s been in the loft for a few years.

PumpkinSpiceSeason · 20/01/2024 11:23

Don't overthink it. Pick one and don't give it another thought- both are decent and trusted brands.

My DS didn't use it much beyond his first few days. We mostly coslept in the end with our Snuzpod being a handy bit of storage. Plus he was a big baby and outgrew it at well before 6m because you can't use them once they start trying to pull themselves up/ rolling.

So whatever choice you make, baby might have other plans! Good luck 😊

WestendGrrls · 20/01/2024 11:33

I've not used the snuzpod but I had a bed nest and a next to me, and am now of the opinion they are all much of a muchness. They both worked and did the same thing. I'd go for whatever was available second hand and get a new mattress.

bogoblin · 20/01/2024 11:43

We have the Snuzpod 3 and it's great - will be using it for our 3rd baby! I like the zip up side, it's a nice size, you can lift the cot bit off, and also - it has a rocker style base that makes it really easy to slide around on carpet! We always used it freestanding instead of attaching it to the bed and were able to just push it around the room and out of the way.

There was a magic few weeks with my eldest where all I had to do was stick my foot out of the duvet and I could rock it gently until he went back to sleep

professionalnomad · 20/01/2024 11:54

I had a next to me and never ended up using for either baby! Just co-slept to make feeding easier (both EBF)

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 20/01/2024 18:20

We just put the normal big cot next the bed from the start and it worked well. At 2 and a half he is still in it (just now in his own room)
