Has anyone found that baby is ok to be carried in a sling some of the time but not all??

I am planning to get a wrap around sling to help out alot when new baby arrives (DD will be 18 months older) BUT I don't plan to carry the newborn all of the time and will still want to put it in a bouncy chair / buggy etc inbetween (for various non-negotiable reasons ).

Have any of you found that if you started 'slinging' your newborn almost immediately, that baby will only really settle on you rather than elsewhere?

I would be reluctant to put it through the trauma of being 'unslung' and so would manage things differently if this is what people have found in general.

You don't have to carry the baby in the sling the whole time, very few people do. WIth DD2 I only used the sling when we were out and would also use the buggies at times. It doidn't cause any problems.
