Taking my 4 year old tomorrow for the first time. Any tips for how to make the most of it and not spend the whole day queuing? Thank you

If he is only 4, I honestly still would skip a day and go next week, the q's will be horrible tmrw and then add this heat!
It's honestly such a better experience when it's not rammed

And how are you with wasps, they are like a plague there sometimes

No. He's just starting school. Let him settle in without pulling him out just because you want to avoid queues at an amusement park.

"If he is only 4, I honestly still would skip a day and go next week"

Do people actually do this? Confused

Yes they do. I haven't, but each to their own.

I definitely wouldn't do it in the first few weeks in reception, they need to settle in

Thank you all for the tips! We had a brilliant day. To pass some on, definitely get there at 0930 (opens at 10), don't bother with the Deep Sea Adventure one, head straight to The Dragon on arrival. The water splash area was fab! Adults will be fine but little ones definitely need one.
Take your own packed lunch and drinks as it's really expensive (we bought our own stuff but got a £4 coffee when we left...).

It's all a little shabby round the edges and the rides are ridiculous short but we still had a really good time

Absolutely.
I took my 7 year old out of school to go this year
Term time holidays until secondary school to . Can't afford it otherwise. About 5 days a year off . I don't give it a second thought
