So we have one tooth still under the pillow, one little boy with a broken heart, and one very guilty mum.

Shitting bollox, how do I make it up to him?

He had two quid last time (first tooth last time!)

I am going to do a letter.

I am going to get my thinking cap on.

I am going to be grovelling for the rest of my days....!

I agree with littlelapin - put a little note somewhere he will easily find it - explaining that you will be back tonight and you are so very sorry but by the time you got here he was waking up and nobody is allowed to see the tooth fairy

God Im a liar.

littlelapin - we are singing from the same hymn sheet!!! When I posted the last message I thought - glitter thats what she needs!!

My dad used to write me little notes from Titania the Queen of the fairies. I now realise (Im 51) its cause my mum and dad were broke and I loved the letter more anyway

so are we, and my mum and dad are still broke

Wallace · 28/02/2008 07:36

Just go in his room to have another look with the money concealed in your hand. And "find" it tucked under another part of his bed. Then say something like "Oh look, the tooth fairy couldn't find your pillow so she just left it under xyz!"

Works every time

shabster · 28/02/2008 07:37

Wallace - sneaky

NatalieJane · 28/02/2008 07:39

I can't even do that Wallace, DH has been out at work before we got up, and all I have is 2 £20 notes and a bit of change!

I don't feel guilty enough to give him £20!

Not really it is his birthday in 3 weeks, all he is interested in is a game (that my sister is buying him) and a bouncy castle.

I think I'll stick to the note tonight and give him a fiver.

He's gonna tell her teacher that the toothfairy forgot to come isn't he?

I have got to get ready, but I will look at it properly when I get back from school.

Thanks, could be just the thing!

NJane - you flash sod £20 notes, what are they?

Littlelapin - that site is GENIUS

throckenholt · 28/02/2008 07:54

we told ours that the tooth fairy left the money with us so that it wouldn't get lost, and left the tooth so that they can show people.

largeginandtonic · 28/02/2008 08:13

We do this ALL the time! I do have 6 and 3 of them are losing teeth atm...

We always say oh dont worry the tooth fairy must be on holiday Sure she will come tonight (she does not sometimes )

The twins are starting to get VERY suspicious and leave notes with farckin questions for the tooth fairy!!! They want names and numbers where she can be reached

Dont worry, tis funny really

southeastastra · 28/02/2008 08:17

'Can't I put she couldn't get his pillow because his room is such a state?!!! '

yes do that!!

dippydeedoo · 28/02/2008 08:28

i think the toothfairy could leave something in the garden for him? dangling on a tree maybe? a envlope filled with glitter and a shiny coin??

SSSandy2 · 28/02/2008 08:29

Last time the tooth fairy forgot to come 2 nights in a row. Can you imagine it?

So I made out she maybe couldn't find the tooth and we took a small box from the kitchen, put a sticker on it and she drew a picture of a tooth and wrote TOOF FAIRY on it in big letters.

The tooth fairy very nearly forgot that night too. I suddenly remembered when I was in bed and got up in the middle of night otherwise I think TF would have been seriously in trouble.

sophiewd · 28/02/2008 08:31

Not got to this stage yet but me and DH sat here giggling at the replies, love the idea of a traffic jam in Fairyland

bozza · 28/02/2008 08:37

I cannot believe you are contemplating leaving a fiver for a tooth. But then I don't get this giving more for the first tooth. When DS's first came out I contemplated 50p but realised that the chances of me having a 50p in my purse every time were slim so we went down the £1 route.

I forgot once but managed to sneak in while he was still sleepy and give him a cuddle while performing the deed. He forgot once and left his tooth on the kitchen table so she didn't come that night. He swallowed one and lost one in the playground so he had to write notes.

Buda · 28/02/2008 08:43

I gave a fiver for first tooth bozza - we were in London for the weekend and it was all I had as I had gotten rid of all my coins - it was the last day. He bought himself a car - black cab and still plays with it and says it is the one he bought with the tooth fairy money.

Since then he has lost one in Dublin so got a 2 Euro coin and the rest in Hungary so got a 200 forint note which is less than one euro! Thank God for different currencies so I didn't have to keep up with the initial fiver!
