Swollen penis 3 year old

My 3.5 son told me yesterday that his penis was sore, but when I looked there didn't seem to be anything "wrong" so he had a bath and went to bed. Today he woke and said it hurt again but by this morning I noticed it had swollen. I rang the local pharmacy and they said to give him some Puriton incase it's an allergy, and some cannesten. I don't think these are doing anything as by tonight it's swollen more (I read about balanitis online but that says the head of the penis, but his is swollen in the middle?). There was what appeared to be a small red dot when I looked first thing today so I'm not sure whether it could be a bite/sting? Just tried calling 111 but was unaware he needed to be awake for the call (!) and he's just gone to sleep. Any ideas? Doesn't seem to be hurting him to wee.

they tend to try a steroid cream first. In my experience anyway, if that’s what it is

Hi my 10 month old had balantitis it was the "main" bit of his penis that was swollen . He needed steroid cream from the gp. Tbh my little one didn't seem anything but normal, I just noticed it at nappy change.

Sounds similar to what my son has had a few times called balanitis. It definitely needs checking out and antibiotics/steroid cream. 111 or OOH clinic before it gets worse.

No doesn't appear that anything is or has wrapped around it. I think it's either a insect bite, or an infection...

I would not leave this until the morning, personally, I would ring 111 now as our local hospital has an out of hours GP service.

Morning all! Swelling dissappeard today and he woke saying "my willy not hurting now". So I can only assume it was a bite/sting! Thank you all x

Hi did you find out what was coursing it? sounds exactly what my son has.

No I didn't but I think it was a bite/sting as there was a red dot where the swelling was. Hope your little one is OK.
