Gifts for TAs?

Do you get the TAs an end of year gift? Or just the teacher?
It all adds up when we are on a tight budget and I don't have a relationship with the TAs... But also don't want to be unfair. I'm thinking of Starbucks vouchers, but £10 each is £40. What do you do?

Last year only one parent acknowledged the office staff, no thank you from the ones we support every day with multiple issues and teachers (who do work very hard) have a carful

I've been on MN too long when I think "why would anyone buy gifts for trans activists?"

We did a whole class collection for reception class this year, split equally between teacher and TAs.

Other classes I tend to just get a card, maybe a box of chocolates.

Gosh that's a point too!

Teachers say this too but honestly a card would be really appreciated

In my school most of the classes seem to do a class collection these days. In almost all cases the collection is split evenly between the class teacher and class TA.

Other staff who may work across classes do get some gifts - often not as much but they do often receive a token gift and a nice card. Or a joint gift of chocolates/biscuits brought in to share between the other tas/support staff sent to the staff room in the Monday before schools ends.
I work across school covering PPA. The class I taught a lot this year bought be a really lovely generous gift, similar to what the teacher and ta got. Some of the other classes got me chocolates, wine, handmade soap, etc. and all got me cards with lovely messages.

At my school where I teach, the parents association give a €25 Amazon voucher to every single staff member at school- office, teachers, cafeteria. Think it's great everyone is treated the same. Am very grateful for any gifts received. Also received gifts from class parents - typically bottle of champagne, or some lovely smellies . I work in an international school so appreciate this is not the norm.

I generally worked with children with additional needs, as well as the rest of the class and so I probably knew those children far better than the class teacher did. I used to be a bit miffed that the teacher would have lots of (sometimes) lavish presents and I'd maybe get a fraction of gifts. But then again, I wasn't too fussed about getting lots of chocolates! Very appreciative though.
One of the most thoughtful gifts was from a little girl. She'd previously asked me what my favourite colour was. I didn't think anything of it because it's the sort of question children ask but on the last day of term, she'd made each of us a friendship bracelet in our favourite colours. That meant the world to me and I still have it!
