French holiday help!

chochol1000 · 18/04/2023 14:17

Going to France this august with family

We've been let down by the place where booked the villa so now we have nowhere to stay and have booked train, hotel there and back as it was a long drive from calais

Can anyone recommend any nice areas for maximum of 7 hr drive from calais pls ?

Would like somewhere driving distance of the beach, walking distance of shops/restaurants/markets etc as a minimum

Thank you Mumsnetters!

The location we had was perfect but sadly no accommodation now available for what we want

Villa for 7 people

@ItsRainingPens that is beautiful! Absolutely lovely house - I forgot to add we need a pool 😩otherwise that would be spot on
One person in the party insists on a pool
And be nice for the kids especially the eldest who would spend most days there ! It's such a lovely property and drive wise is perfect

That's a pretty fundamental requirement to leave out!

QuickNameChangeForMeToday · 19/04/2023 08:58

Bit over budget but if you include savings on hotels it’s doable.

Took me 2 mins on the site. Why not have a go?

Inland but great location- we stayed nearby and did Versailles (45min) for the day. www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/41895954?check_in=2023-08-01&check_out=2023-08-08&guests=1&adults=6&children=1&s=67&unique_share_id=2d485b5f-edbb-4014-b174-b2772e309aab

It's not to make you feel shit for goodness sake. Don't be ridiculous.

Lots of posters on here are giving you recommendations from personal experience and several are actually being kind enough to carry out google searches on your behalf.

Does it not occur to you that it is a bit of a waste of their time to be looking for holidays for you when you forgot to mention something fundamental (and price impacting) that is clearly important for you to have but you didn't actually include that information at the beginning.

Hope you manage to find somewhere nice.

@AndyandTeddyarewavinggoodbye for what it's worth I don't think your comment was horrid at all.

AndyandTeddyarewavinggoodbye · 19/04/2023 11:16

@burgledinParis

Thank you! Neither did I, but OP has seen fit to respond 3 times to tell me how horrid I am.

Not sure what part of "Hope you manage to find somewhere nice" is horrid?

whensmynexthol1day · 19/04/2023 11:20

I think you probably need a heated pool if you're not going that far south- we've had unheated pools even in the Charente which is further south than you are looking and they are only bearable because the outside temperature is in the 30s - you won't guarantee getting that sort of temp more north of France

gogohmm · 19/04/2023 12:58

There's a few places reasonably priced in Normandy on booking.Com, the beaches are stunning and it's brilliant for anyone interested in history of course.

Your patronising' does it not occur to you ' as if that's being polite and NOTHING in your posts were helpful like everyone else like you pointed out people taking the time as if I'm not aware of that? I asked the question ? People will respond if they want to help

You sound patronising in your tone so yes that's horrid to me

It's fine we don't mind it not heated
Our criteria is tough enough

I’m surprised anyone is bothering to help you, with your attitude. Surely you can look on sites yourself anyway.
