tis an exhausting time in the tutterhole

a 2.8yo and a 6mo

an hour devoted to naked pegging it around (/kicking) plus bath plus nappies on plus pjs on plus stories plus milk for ds2 plus winding ds2

i don't mind it as such as it has the desired effect of preparing them for sleep

but i occasionally read an MN post along the lines of "must go put the kids in bed" and itr makes me think "i wonder if..."

I'm another bad Mum bath 3 times a week, if not bath then jammies at 7.15ish, milk and toast 7.30pm, teeth and then up for a story at about 10 to 8 give or take 10 minutes. DD1 (3.6) gets read one story then "reads" to herself for about 10 minutes then comes and asks for lights out.

DD2 (2) used to sing/read/talk to herself for over an hour before finally settling to sleep but we have dropped her afternoon nap for the past week and she is out like a light at 8pm.
