Sugar free squash?

My 15 month old has only ever been offered water as a drink (and breast feeds too and has cows milk In a cup).
However, he hardly drinks any water, he just throws the cup.
I was worried today as he'd literally drank 1 ounce all day and his nappy was dry for hours. He had only had one breast feed at 6am and we were out. I bought him some squash and it was very weak and he drank a whole 6oz.
Is sugar free squash really that bad?

A bit of squash is fine along with a healthy balanced diet!

Stuff that you buy is rarely weak - or did you buy concentrate and add it to his water?
Was it in a different bottle if you bought something?
Diluted fruit juice - or even fruit / cucumber in water is better.

Thanks everyone!
So today we've tried with just water again and he's drank half an ounce and only had 1 wet nappy. He does breast feed but has cut down massively so only had 2 feeds today and not long ones. So I've just given him some extremely weak squash and he's downing it. He's clearly thirsty. I'm just gonna keep trying him with water but will also give squash if he's not drinking enough water (it may just be a phase) . Thanks for the ideas , will try different temperatures etc.
