my 17mo ds has hand foot and mouth disease. He is spotty and grizzly but I have been given no advice on what to do with his spots. They look exactly like chicken pox spots but apparently they are not itchy. Should I put something on them? His bottom and tops of legs look horrendous . Feel neglectful not doing anything . I put vaseline on tonight jsut to stop the wee making spots sore but I'm just winging it tbh. Anyone got any experience?

i didnt put anything on ds i just gave calpol and nurofren as he had a temp and was unsettled, the spots never bothered him ecept he couldnt eat much

thanks clayre - he doesn't have a temperature any more but has cried out at night (he has re-settle himself so far)but I assumed tht his is owing to discomfort from spots. they look so red and horrible that i feel i should do something! How long did your lo have hte spots for? did you take him to todder groups or did you avoid them?

s'cuse tense of sentence! I altered it and now it is partially present and partially future tense. I am sure you get the message!
