Hating maternity leave

I’m so bored on mat leave. I don’t have an easy baby and it’s hard work getting him to sleep so groups can be hard to get to as his naps are so unpredictable and he doesn’t nap on the go. I see some Mum friends at least once a week and try and go for a walk everyday but he cries in his pram or the carrier after about 20 mins so I can never get very far before tears. I can’t drive. I feel like I go mad trying to keep him entertained at home all day and feel like I just wait for DH to get home from work.

Those who don’t do baby groups, how do you not go mad??? How do you spend your days?

This was me. I went back to work at 7 months as I couldn't bare it any longer. To survive until then I packed my diary full - always had something on every day, mostly seeing other people as otherwise I lost my mind in my own company, and got out the house as much as I could. Ironically before having our daughter I always loved spending time on my own!

Life is absolute chaos juggling full time work and mum life but I'd rather that than the relentless monotony of mat leave! If we have another I will plan to go back around the same time I think. Whilst I hated being off I would have struggled to go back earlier because she slept so badly until just coming up to 7 months. Although no guarantee another will follow the same pattern I suppose!
