School packed lunches?

My neighbour left her DDs packed lunch in the hall yesterday, it was open and full of empties but it appears that she gives her Dairylea dunkables, frubes, crisps and a choc biscuit for lunch.

What do you all give your DC for packed lunch? I give a sandwich either ham or cheese, DS will not eat anything else, a baby bel, apple or orange juice, piece of fruit and a packet of crisps or cake bar/biscuit.

sandwich/rolls/pittas/tortilla/quasedillas/quiche/sausage rolls/pasty/pasta salad/rice salad depending on what I've made

then bits from either crisps, gathia(indian snack), dried fruit, breadsticks, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cumcumber/carrot/celery, cheese chunks, nuts, seeds, cake, biscuits, olives.

Don't do dairylea dunkables or frubes jsut because they are too bloody expensive. Do philly and breadsticks soemtimes but only at home.

water to drink. They never finish it and juice in a bottle reeks at the end of the day.

Sorry for this minor hijack, but do you have cool packs in the lunch box? Just wondering as am new to this packed lunch business.

Yes, I have nice flexible cool packs from Lakeland (also useful for applying to bumps and bruises). And his lunch box is insulated. I make it up the night before and put the lunch box in the fridge and then in the morning dh puts a cool pack in before he takes ds to school.

I don't see that yours is much better than hers. Presumably her DD also had a sandwich. And what is the difference between a petits filous and a frube? So you give a baby bel instead of dairylea dunkables - thats about the difference. Personally I don't do packed lunches.

These are the ice packs that I use
