help! 18 month son bites other kids and scratches my face and babies's face, pulls hair!!!

He tends to think all toys are his and bites kids to get what he wants....he starts biting anybody when he does not get his way....and recently starts scratching my face and oulling my hair especially during bedtime.i normally start slowly by saying nono, not good...or mummy in pain!!!argh!
but does not listen and then start being tough on him and shout at him...he then cries his head off...and can vomit...is it the beginning of the terrible 2? what do would u do????does my ds suffer from some kind of hyperactivity???

Had a similar thing a few weeks ago with my 18 month old. She would hit other children (unprovoked just go up to them and slap them) and would also hit me.

Her little friend of the same age is a hair puller and the two of them had an actual fight and we had to separate them.

I think (from my limited experience!) thats its a stage. Dd has got so much better and almost stopped hitting - it just seems to have passed off.

I would say no very firmly and in a deep slow voice rather than in a mucking about way and stop her doing it and apologise to the other parent and child. Some mums make a big thing about making them "apologise" but personally think they are much too young for that, dd cant speak yet. So hang on in there sure it will pass!

he has been biting kids since he started playgroups 2 months ago!
