Trampolines

Dc (6) wants a trampoline for Christmas. I have held off as I was worried about injury, but am not sure if I am being over cautious. Should I just get one? If I do, how do you pick a size?

I’m friends with a doctor and they said ask anyone who has spent time working in A&E and they will tell you never to have a trampoline or a pond

op just because you won't get one doesn't mean she won't go on one ever, she'll go to friends places and at least on your trampoline you can control the safety measures like a net plus trampolines are great for sunbathing in the summer 😉

So far so good on the accident front but it only EVER gets used when other children visit and then everyone wants to use it. It's a bleddy eyesore that collects leaves and weeds/fox poo underneath.

What I should have done is worked out the cost of it and how many trips to jump or professional lessons and done that .

DC already has trampoline lessons, plus we go to a trampoline centre to bounce, but it doesn't stop him wanting his own. He says he will ask Santa, which is what bothers me. Santa has never not delivered. Not even the year he asked for a discontinued Playmobil thing I had to collect all the parts of on eBay, or the build a Bear Rubble (also discontinued) I had to get sent from America. I suppose it was bound to happen at some point.

Time to start managing expectations around Santa. Easy to repeat as nauseum that he doesn't bring trampolines etc

He brought one last Christmas for next door, so that one won't work!

I agree with pp that you'll get all the horror stories on here, and you can't argue with the stats about most a&e visits for children being trampoline incidents.
BUT my DC got one and has never had an issue with it in the 3yrs we've had it, which will be a common story up and down the country.
Ironically, at a trampolining birthday party, they landed funny and we ended up swinging by a&e on the way back 🙃 they do bounce differently!

So my ADHD child has a trampoline and a climbing frame, he's yet to hurt himself on either and just flings himself about 😳 or jumps off the climbing frame.

I think I've given up with "risk assessments" for him. Broken bones heal is my motto 😂
