Extended BF - how/when did you stop?

We’re coming up for two years and I’m wondering now what’s ahead. Did your DC stop of their own accord? When? Or did you make a choice yourself? I’m starting to feel differently about it and interested to hear others’ reflections.

DS was somewhere between 3 and 4. I went back to FT work after 2 years of PT so I suspect that's what finally did it.

FWIW my DH took him away for 5 days when he was 2.5 and he went straight for the boob on his return! Going away won't necessarily mean they forget about it

This is a great thread for me right now. DD is 25 months and we've been down to the feed to sleep feed only for a few weeks. Before that it had been morning and evening only.

The plan is for DH to do 6 bedtimes in a row (max amount before he's on a late shift) and then reintroduce me but with no milk as it's 'all finished'. So by rights tonight should be the last ever feed...

Do keep us updated on how you do!

We have had one offs with Dad going bed time but only as one offs when I am out of the house.

@BerthaYoung I don't know if it's with DD having turned 2, but I have more of an aversion to it again than I have for probably a year or so when I'd get accidentally bitten. I've always said I don't want to drop it when something else is going on so shelved plans to wean a month or so ago when her sleep went wonky. But it's come back now. DD has never been a good sleeper but has been better since night weaning. I'm hoping self settling to sleep/not feeding to sleep will promote this further now she is the age that she is.

Thanks @Butteryflakycrust83 I am expecting an angry toddler tbh! But it will be good for her to get used to Daddy doing bedtimes too. DD is very selective about who she lets in so if the couple of people she likes at nursery aren't there she won't nap or had a very short one and just isn't very happy. So need her to get used to being a bit more flexible!

Just in the process of stopping bf my 23 month old!
Going to phase it out over the next 4 weeks by replacing with a cup of soya or oat milk done by DH. I can't give it yet as she does still ask for my milk but I'm just ready to reclaim my body now!
