First time play date at play gym...who pays?

My DS friends mum has tried to arrange a play date with me and my DS. She has suggested a play gym and i suggested a place. Who pays? Do I send her the link to pay for herself and her son or do I pay for them too? I would prefer the latter as then it starts the friendship on a even foot...but I don't know the etiquette?

You both pay for yourselves. You send her the link and say I am booking ds at x time, see you both then or something like that.

Deffo don't pay lol

Pay for yourselves? If you have to book online just say "hi, I've booked the 10am session, do you need the link? See you there at 10am"

I'd pay for a good friend but not for a new one.

Depends on your friendship.

Some people are will take it in turns. Others pay for themselves.

I'd assume as she initially suggested a paid activity, that each pay for yourselves.

Just say to her "let me know what day/time and I'll book my child in, see you there"

Pay for yourselves unless (or until) you are really good friends. Little ones are notorious for getting meetings cancelled or delayed so you don't want to be out of pocket.

Definitely pay for yourselves.

Unless you're good friends pay for yourself.

Me and a good friend tend to pay fir each other as it all evens out in the end.

But usually just yourself

bananainpjs · 11/08/2022 09:06

We are not good friends. I have met her at the school gates just only several times. Her DS has left to go to school and mine is staying on so she initiated the play date to keep in contact as they are best friends.

Thank you for the replies! I thought i was rude suggesting for her to pay for herself 😂

She'll be expecting to pay for herself and child. She suggested it in the first place anyway - why would she expect you to pay?

I didn't expect her to think I will be paying....I thought is it etiquette for me to pay for her and her suggested as I am the one who suggested the place (she suggested a play date).
