Putting 8 month old in a crèche

I am desperate to get back to the gym but really worried about distressing my baby by putting him in a crèche. I’ve decided if he cries for me I’ll not bother as I’d feel rotten working out knowing that he’s down in the crèche needing me.. but I am realllly hoping he settles just fine with no tears. In your experience of your own child.. How likely do you think it is that he will settle in happily?

If you go around nap time how likely is it your little one would go to / stay asleep?

Whatagrapefruit156 · 06/08/2022 21:13

He definitely won’t sleep. He only sleeps if breastfed to sleep and rocked x

Have you tried leaving him with anyone?

Yes I live with my Mum, Dad, brother and his girlfriend so one of them will often watch him for half an hour while I have a bath or something and he is very happy x

Will you be able to see him while you're there?

Whatagrapefruit156 · 06/08/2022 21:22

no the crèche is downstairs and gym is upstairs so once I’ve left him there he won’t see me. I am planning on leaving him there for half an hour

Would a creche accept such a small baby? I'm sure he'd be fine but I'd probably leave at home with your family.

With an 8m old baby I wouldn't do that. It's not like choosing a nursery where you'd visit & chat with the staff & check Ofsted etc, you don't know who's working there, and your baby can't tell you if they're OK or not. Can you ask your family to watch him for a bit? Or his dad?

@HOTHotPeppers yes they take them from six weeks! X

@MolliciousIntent i have met one of the staff members and she is lovely - they do a baby club on Wednesdays which I have been to twice. But I don’t know any of the other staff so that is worrying x
