Nappy rash a problem ?? Sick of spending money on lotions and potions to get rid of it ?? The end is nigh. Whilst doing your food shopping, pick up some eggs. Separate the white and the yolk and using the white, whisk it until it's frothy. Lay the poor afflicted child face down, nappyless on a mat (think Billy Connolly's "somewhere to park your bike") and dap the froth on to the sore areas, leave to dry and then dab on again, repeating for as long as the child like will stay there. Then, doing nothing else put the nappy back on. Next time you come to change the nappy, have a look how it's getting on.... If the rash had got extremely bad then it might need doing a couple of times but I promise it works !!

What is it with grannies and nappy rash? Top tip from mine was using starch on bottom - really does work (not aerosol one tho' )

egg white and oxygen is an old nursing remedy for bed sores

good idea for some but 1 in 15 babies allergic to egg especially egg white (including my DD) and often a contact allergy. Sorry to put a dampener but I would really not advise it unless you know baby is definitely not allergic to egg as in a tiny minority iy could be v serious.

I read it on here, so not mine, but definitely worth passing on as it has worked on 3 out of 3 people I've told.

Rub Vicks vapour rub onto the soles of your feet and a bad cough will improve immeasureably by the next morning.

not parenting but the best tip my granny gave me was to clean windows with newspaper and vinegar - streak free shine every time.

MummyDoIt · 18/01/2008 09:32

My grandad's tip for preventing new shoes from rubbing was to pee in them to soften the leather. I have never put it to the test myself!

I am thinking of trying the egg white one on my ds. My MIL reccommended it aswell. He has got really bad nappy rash at the mo. He is 17 mths and has been eating eggs since he was 6 mths so I know theres no risk of allergy, as long as they have eaten eggs with no allergy it shouldn't be a problem.
