Nightmares Over Numberjacks

My DC has been talking about Numberjacks for a while after coming out of school, in my confusion I thought it was Numberblocks being referenced and didn't get half of it but made encouraging noises.

We've been struggling with nightmares, I'm up and down 3 or 4 times a night on a bad night. I ask what's wrong and there's a genuine fear we're not there but I can't ever work out what's triggering them during sleep.

Last night, there's a massive scream and DC is crying, I'm in the toilet so DC runs in and closes the door. DC stands against it saying The Numbertaker is going to get them. It's come out that DC has been scared of it for a while and had two nightmares last night of The Numbertaker and Spooky Spoon.

We've tried to rationalise this, much like we've done with every nightmare by saying our brain can make stuff up that seems scary.

We've now shown DC that they are just actors in Numberjacks and shown the cast out of costume, etc. However, what can I do if this is something they'll be watching regularly at school during the day?

I'd never seen it before all of this so I had shock myself and cannot fathom why they're being shown this in reception?!

Lol, they've got out the old archives it seems!

I wouldn't mind but it seems to be impacting DC emotionally at the moment.

I'm not sure how to approach it or what (if anything), to say to the teacher?

I'd just say

'I just wanted to let you know that Ted has been having nightmares about the Numbertaker' and see what she says.

I honestly doubt it's imbedded into their curriculum. She probably just puts it on while they are all washing their hands before lunch or something like that.

Maybe the teacher used to watch it or something. I was in a school a few weeks ago where they put the Clangers on at lunchtime.

Just tell them exactly what you’ve said here. You’d be surprised what we have to change is similar circumstances. It’s not an unreasonable request and any good school should do something to resolve this.

DD 12 was terrified of the Problem Blob whe she was little. She used to actually start shaking and panicking. She says looking at it now still makes her feel nauseous.

My DD who’s now 12 used to have nightmares about number jacks too. She was terrified of spooky spoon and the number taker. She’d have dreams about them coming out of our sofa too.
definitely mention it to nursery
