Newborn - 1 day old

Just wanted some advice - my baby is one day old and already won't settle for naps unless held - everytime I put her down after a feed she cries until she's held. Her sleeps seems very shallow. She also seems gassy and settles for a short feed, passes some gas and falls sleep on the boob almost instantly. Is this normal for 1 day old?

@Marty13

Babies are meant to use their mums as a pacifier, it’s literally how they comfort themselves. DS2 breastfed until he was 4 years old and went to sleep on the boob every night.

Breastfed babies don't always burp as much but they still need you to attempt it. I remember the very first time I fed my newborn and the midwife told me how, and he did do one.
My 4 month old still doesn't really go down for naps. When we do get him to, he'll only have 30 minutes. When we contact nap, he can sleep for 90 minutes. Therefore, we still often prefer to have him on us, so he can have what he needs. They don't have the ability to self settle for a while.

@BelleTheBananas tbf not everyone would feel that was for them either.

Yes it’s normal.
with a bit of practice you’ll master the moving the sleeping baby manoeuvre! They need to be asleep enough but not too much. I found 5 minutes and when I could lift their arm up without any resistance the sweet spot!
and warm up wherever you are going to put them with a hot water bottle

My forth trimester last until about age 2 and still when the kids are unwell they need holding. It's cute for the first half and hour. I don't get anything done and I've given up on having a clean house.
