Anyone read 'Perfect madness - motherhood in the age of anxiety' ?

I've already asked but nobody had. It's changing the way I see mothering and myself in some quite liberating ways. If anyone's read it I'd really like a wee discussion about it.

I just gave it to a friend for Xmas and I'd like to borrow it from them! Can you tell me more?

Well, it sort of gives a history of mothering styles by generation which is quite enlightening because it makes you realise that each generation is not only swinging back and forth in terms of how they parent but also that we are still repeating the mistakes of previous generations. It lays out the reasons why so many of us wether SAHM or working outside the home are frustrated and guilt-ridden about our 'choices'. It also explains that we have a biological and evolutionary need to be 'out in the world' as well as looking after kids all day. Basically we need to be working outside the home and looking after the babies but socety s not set up in such a way as to allow this.
I'm only half-way through and sorry if I'm not very coherent. I like a good discussion but am not actually very good at doing the discussing myself [shame] depleted brain-cells of the SAHM I thnk...

Well it would be a better discussion if I had actually read it already. Can you pick out a couple of specific points that have helped you in particular?
