Dd1 is nearly seven and still sleeps in our bed sometimes. Anybody got any children older than that...

DH works nights and gets into bed around 5.30, I have to be up at 6 and we like to have a quick cuddle . You can guarantee, if we are getting down and dirty DS whose 8, will walk in the bedroom, knee me in the ribs (whilst climbing over me) and get in. It wouldn't be so bad, but I had flu over Christmas, and I ached all over, so a good kneeing in the ribs was (and still is, as I am not quite well, yet) agony.

DS is 7. I think he will be still coming into our bed until he leaves home.

My dd is 6 and loves sleeping in our bed. I don't mind at all but that our bed isn't quite big enough for all of us!

cottonflee · 13/01/2008 00:11

Seeker ... nooo, please tell me your kidding.

Right this second my DD1 (13) is asleep between me and DH......

she started her periods today and , and she and I are still a bit shakey......me thinks she is just needing reassurance that she is still our 'baby'.

I will be helping ove her in a mo, but for now, tis kind of nice.

as for the others......the amount of time I wake and one or t'other, (or even all five), are laying across our legs......

lostittoday · 18/01/2008 11:45

Hi
Yes my ds who is 7 gets in our bed by 5.00am every morning without fail.

Then he lies there torturing me with his hair curling fetish.

Sometimes I am on nightshifts so my dp gets tortured.

I have asked him if he would like me to buy him a wig and he can keep it in bed with him and play with that to which he just laughs.

Tbh if he had things his way he would be in our beds from that start and never sleep in his own.

sweetkitty · 18/01/2008 11:47

DD1 comes into our bed some nights if she wakes up and is frightened. I really don't mind I love cuddling up to her. I think it is one of the nice things about childhood, waking from a bad dream and going to find your Mummy, jumping in beside her and having a cuddle.

tortoiseSHELL · 18/01/2008 11:49

Ds1 who is 6 still comes in. It is only a problem when dd who is 4 is already there! And we do NOT have a big bed!

OrmIrian · 18/01/2008 11:52

DD is 8 (9 in April) and she slept in our bed the night before last. She doesn't like her room as it's at the end of the house and she's the only one who has to sleep alone. I don't mind. It's only once in a while.

Ooh no! We cracked this one last week!!

DS1 is nearly 6 and ds2 is 3 and at least one of them would come into our bed during the night but DH and I cannot stand it as ds2 sleeps like a starfish(!) and has cold feet.

Soo, we started a starchart each and if they could both go back to bed straight away after getting in with us, they would get a sticker. If they woke up in the night and were able to stay in their bed all night, they would get 2 stickers. Get to 20 stickers and they will get a present!!

Voila!! It worked and we are present shopping with them tomorrow.

We now all sleep well and DH is much happier with just him and me in bed!!

biganddesperate · 18/01/2008 11:58

both mine 10 and 4 end up in my bed by the morning......

i make the most of it as by time they are 15 they wont will they???

chipmonkey · 18/01/2008 12:15

My neighbours children used to still pop into their parents bed for a cuddle as teenagers!

calzone · 18/01/2008 12:16

popping in for a cuddle is fab!!

sleeping all night between us is NOT!

Peachy · 18/01/2008 12:22

ds1 is 8 and soes this, but I don't feel I can completely clamp down ATM as he is having a hard time at school

geminikate · 18/01/2008 12:24

finaly after meny trips back and forth putting the Ds age 8 and the Dd age 5 back in thier own beds through out the night, we thought we had cracked it..... that was untill the Dd who is 2 upgraded from out her cot to a single bed and now we end up with all three in our bed by morning.

saffy202 · 18/01/2008 13:19

DS2 is 9 and I still wake up most morning to find him there.
I can't bring myself to stop it as I feel I will have lost my baby

Ds1 never ever came in.

cory · 18/01/2008 13:34

Ds (11) does this very rarely and only when her chronic pain is particularly bad; ds (7) more frequently. Thankfully, neither seems to feel the need until past midnight, which seems to be more or less our cutoff time for conjugal passion. I saw an Ikea advertisement recently which was based on the assumption that all parents will be spending their nights fighting for possession of the pillow with offspring- this is much more recognised in Sweden.
The beauty of it is that once they're asleep in my bed- I can nip out and grab theirs- and guess who's got the modern and expensive beds in our house?

Peapodlovescuddles · 18/01/2008 14:31

I slept next to my dad (my mum liked her personal space at night) until I was 10, nothing 'dodgy' I just got cold in my bed, catalyst for stopping was my little sister who is 8 years younger moving into a bed so she could potter in too and then potty training... last time i slept in their bed was the first (and now im a mum sadly not the last) time i woke up in a puddle of someone elses piss. Lovely.

suedonim · 19/01/2008 01:42

Dd is 11 and not showing any signs of stopping sharing our bed any time soon. I do, however, object to her coming into our bed at 3am and asking 'Can we talk about mobile phones?' She got short shrift.

Also, my 45yo friend still bed-shares with her mum!! Admittedly, probably not of choice, but it happens. When she and her two dd's stay with the mum/granny, friend shares double bed with her dd2 and granny shares with dd1. Sometimes the dd1 comes into bed with dd2 and friend so friend gets out and moves in with her mum to get a bit of peace and quiet.

Freckle · 19/01/2008 02:49

All 3 boys (almost 14, 12 and 9) will end up in bed with us from time to time. Wouldn't mind so much if they didn't wriggle and then sprawl. We even bought a superking-size bed so that we'd have plenty of room, but I still seem to end up clinging to the edge of the bed.

ghosty · 19/01/2008 04:04

I used to get into bed with my mum until I was about 15.
My kids don't do it that much though ... they will come for a cuddle but are happy to be taken back to bed.

suedonim · 19/01/2008 14:57

Any advance on 45yo??
