Both of mine did / do .. DD won't let me get food in her mouth cos she's chomping on a Johnsons extracare

Do I have strange kids

And do you let them chomp on them?

Lottie loves to put them in her mouth, and the video!
She holds it in her lips.
I take them off her eventually.

TracyK · 23/11/2004 13:49

my ds loves to chew on tissues and has a good go at babywipes - I do take them off him if I see it - they must taste yukky.

Marina · 23/11/2004 13:50

Yes and yes, it's better than the eldritch screeching that happens if you remove it.
Ds didn't, interestingly.

DD tried to suck them dry and would wander around the living room with one hanging out of her mouth (until I responsibly stepped in to save her from nasty petro chemicals)
This phase has now ended praise be

suzywong · 23/11/2004 13:50

Yes if he can get hold of them

Spanna2 · 23/11/2004 13:51

My DD sucks baby wipes!! She has also been known to drink her water through a baby wipe, almost using it as a filter!!? I think lots of kids have an obsession with them, squeezing the liquid out and smearing it all over the TV and fireplace is another favourite. I try to stop her, most times!!

MrsDoolittle · 23/11/2004 13:51

No. With me it's usually tissues
Baby wipes clean anything and everything. So it's a bit of a Coke and dirty penny scenario, which worries me.
However often stuff gets to dd's mouth before I do...

Dd used to do this as a baby, thankfully it was short lived but I would take them off her.

She just pulls them all out the packet now and cleans the whole house with them! (she's 2)

Chandra · 23/11/2004 14:01

No, but he loves to drink the Oilatum Plus water of his bath. He rarely put inapropiate objects in his mouth, though I have a pumice stone with some muching marks revealing it's an all time favourite...

I'm a bit suspicious of the juicy stuff in baby wipes but the paper bag the bread comes in, the disposable paper liners that were carelessly left within swiping distance and as a special treat greaseproof paper all get gum attention...

clairabelle · 23/11/2004 14:06

Ohh yes I thought it was just me. Dd had a little friend on holiday and when she saw ds doing this she said to me ''how can you let him eat all those chemicals?'' She was only 6. Bad mother alert

Lonelymum · 23/11/2004 14:07

Mine will try and suck baby wipes but I always get them away from him because I am afraid of him swallowing the chemicals that are on the wipes.

Linnet · 23/11/2004 14:16

dd2 likes to lick the baby wipes when we wipe her face. Given half a chance she'd probably have a good old chew on it. But we keep them away from her. I don't remember dd1 doing this though.

prettycandles · 23/11/2004 14:19

Dd likes to drape a babywipe over the spout of her cup and drink through it. She would pull a puzzled and disgusted face, but continued to drink. Since I discovered that babywipes can go through the wash without falling apart, I keep a few washed ones in the kitchen to give her when she wants to drink 'filtered'. I wouldn't let her chew it though, afraid it would disintegrate and choke her, as much as poison her.

Twiglett · 23/11/2004 17:11

I wonder what they put in them

Any adult admit to tasting one .. I can't seem to bring myself to testing it

dd loves to suck on wipes too. the other day i came back from the loo to find her eating the corner of a picture ds had drawn and taped onto her swing. it was on the outside..how on earth did she get that?!

fastasleep · 24/11/2004 08:17

Twiglett, tis Johnson's ExtraCare for my little man too...loves them, I think they must have pure alchohol in them or something and he just takes after his gran!!

nightowl · 25/11/2004 03:07
