Transition to a bed/night wee not going well.

My just 3yo has just become dry in the day and so we moved him from a nappy to a pull up in the night so that he could go to the toilet in the night if he needed to. We also took one side from him cot (he didn’t want to go in his big bed). He has a new gro clock and he understands the concept behind it.

Having slept a solid 12-13 hours a night, he is now waking multiple times to go for a wee/poo (but nothing comes out). I think this has all become an exhausting game for him He was up at 4am this morning.

Does anyone have tips please. This has been going on for 2 weeks and I’m struggling!😴

My thinking is if he is ready to be dry at night he won’t need a wee during the night. I would be taking a step backwards and remove the game. Back into nappies overnight for now.
Being dry in the night often comes much much later than daytime dryness.

Is he anxious about wetting the bed and therefore getting up to try several times a night? Maybe switch him back to nappies at night to retain a feeling of security for him and only introduce pull ups or pants once he's reliably dry at night? You both must be exhausted!

To be fair, my son only started using the toilet in the night alone (without waking me/his dad up) at age 6 or 7. Only ever wet the bed if he hadn't used the toilet before going to sleep.
