separation anxiety - how do i get out of the room?!

ds is 5 months and at the moment screams the house down when i walk out of the room. have tried distraction and that quite often works but right now he's having none of and the dinner is on! Any tips or tricks?? (Cant have him in the kitchen)

this worked for us,
whenever you leave the room/his sight say something like "Won't be long" in a very cheery voice. You have to use the exact same words and tone evry time.
then when you come back, even if he doesn't notice you coming back say something like "I'm back now" again same words,same tone. initially you need to stay away for very short periods so if you need the loo then he has to go too!
this worked for us within a couple of days.
can't say it was my idea; i read it somewhere
within a few days we noticed a difference

he's still screaming!!!! lol i'm not so wound up today tho as he is asleep tonight while i cook I'm going to keep it going though so that he will eventually realise that i'm not leaving for good!!

yes, keep going; it did take a few days for it to sink in with ours and perhaps they were a little older than 5 months. fingers crossed for you as i know it is a real pia
