My DD’s birthday party is coming up. We have sent invites approx 3 weeks in advance with an RSVP date by next Monday. We are yet to hear back from 7 other parents. Should I automatically assume if I don’t get a response from those parents they aren’t coming? I’m hoping to do a pass the parcel and have 21 children attending so far but worried that if the other 7 respond after that date or show up without indicating they were coming some children will be left out. I only have 1 out of the 7 parents contact details so might ask that parent a few days before if they intend to come, but undecided if I will do that or not as I shouldnt have to chase them. What would you do?

Hmm. If your DD is going to be bothered, I would chase. You shouldn't have to, but for your own child's sake you do.
If she's not fussed (and it sounds like a whole class thing), I wouldn't bother. But I definitely wouldn't assume none of those 7 will show up! Again,it's crap but not the kids' fault.

I wouldn't plan on 28 winning layers of pass the parcel either though!

I’d chase the ones you can - it’s perfectly okay to do that when you’ve given a date. People just have busy lives and forget things, they won’t be offended.

Also - I’d do the max number of pass the parcel layers. Either a few kids her a bonus go, or you can rip some layers off secretly before.

Whatever you decide DO NOT do 28 layers of wrap. Do 5 layers, children who lose get a sweetie or (life lesson) nothing. It’s not a big deal. I was once at a party with a layer for each child, most got bored and wandered off as it took forever
