Vaccines, Unwell 9 Week Old Baby, HELP!

Hello,
This is my second post in probably as many days. I have a 9 week old baby girl. She had her vaccinations on Thursday last week. Since Thursday last week she has had a temperature of between 37.4 and 38.6 throughout the day and night. Calpol was giving Thursday before vaccinations & two doses after. This continued till sunday as the temperature persisted. On Monday I rang the GP. We was seen he put it down to vaccinations told us not to come back until the end of the week if she was not settled. & to give calpol if required.

These are the things I am worried about;

  • temp of 37.4 to 38.6 throughout the day and night along with sweating/clammy/hot to touch/red etc
  • dip in the amount of feeds (breastfed) not feeding as regularly or as often or for as long. When trying to feed she is very fussy, cries, latching and unlatching, appears upset
  • appears to be much more sleepy, sleeping for longer periods day & night, sleepy throughout the day, less awake time
  • when she is awake she appears unsettled, fussy, crying, not content at all
  • since this morning she has now started to be sick after each feed, enough to have to change her clothes & my top & wipe the floor a bit

Am I just being an over anxious over cautious first time mum or do I have valid reason to worry? The GP has said he won't see us until Friday as he has said this is all related to the vaccinations but I am so worried. I keep thinking there is something wrong with her and that this can't all still be related to the vaccines but how would I know as a first time mum

Hi @aaliyahMoieenAmelia2021 how did things end up for your bsby in tge end? My baby sounds tge same 4 weeks after her jabs snd GP had also said she's fine but I dont feel that she is

Hello,
This was quite a while ago she is now 2 and a half years old but from what I remember thinking back she did recover and become her usual self after about 5 weeks, I did attend the GP several times and even went to A&E as I was so concerned but she did recover it was a horrible time so I really feel for you. Has baby been checked out by a health professional?x

@aaliyahMoieenAmelia2021 thanks for replying. Yes we saw the GP yesterday who said she couldn't find anything wrong! But she's completely not herself, it's a battle to get her to feed and she's so sleepy, I'm now noticing her soft spot feeling more sunken too although still lots of wet nappies, so going to take her into A& E today I think as I'm really worried about her

Definitely take her to A&E I ended up going twice when we was in this same situation. It was a battle to get them to do anything as they kept telling me she was fine but eventually I refused to leave until they had done bloods and all vital observations. I would definitely take her if you are worried it's better to be safe. I really feel for you it was a horrible anxious time x

Yeah she did, we never got to the bottom of it to be honest but when she had her next lot of vaccines she was also unwell for around 3 weeks so I think it is possible she had an extended reaction to the vaccines or something x

Hi! Awh thats kind thanks for asking, I took her to hospital in the end and a Dr checked her really thoroughly and said she was fine, she has got gradually better and I'd say is her normal self again now so hopefully that is the end of it!

I'm so glad to hear everything went well when little one was checked over. It's always best to be safe & you feel better once thoroughly checked! I'm glad you are seeing an improvement that's always a good sign! Take care xx

Hi, I am looking for advice or even just someone to reassure me that they’ve had this too and it improved!
My boy had his 8 week jabs on Monday and has since been really unsettled! He hates to be put down, he no longer self settles and sleeps by himself, he is just all round fussy. Is this common? Does this improve? Thank you!

I think this is totally normal when they feel unwell or out of sorts. My daughter recovered after about ten days and was back to her usual self. She has always struggled after the vaccines with being unwell and fussy etc I think some babies just get more symptoms than others x
