DS (now 18m) has a dairy sensitivity. he was very sicky when he was a baby, had green poos and he is constantly covered in a red dotty rash ... was advised by GP and pediatrician to not cut out dairy.

Ebifa why were you advised not to cut out dairy? My LO has no rash and is now constipated, so not sure. Anyone had a test for dairy allergy?

bad nappy rash, worse after dairy, runny nose, blocked ears, tummy pain

all of which were worse if he'd had a lot of dairy

DS2 was wholly bf until 6 months, then gradually weaned. I continued to bf, but did introduce yoghurts and cow's milk in cooking and on cereal.

At the same time he started vomiting after every meal, and this went on for a couple of months.

I didn't link the two [extremely thick emoticon], but when I chatted to the GP she asked when he'd started being so sicky and when he'd started having dairy in his diet.

Anyway, we removed dairy completely and put him on soya milk and he stopped being sick instantly.

If they really are cow's milk intolerant then the 'test/diagnosis' and the 'solution' are the same.

DS (10mo) has a dairy allergy but the only symptom is hives when his skin comes in contact with cows' milk. I use goats' milk in cooking as he has less of a reaction to this. No allergy test as yet but we are going back to see the paed about his eczema in Feb so will see if they will do one then.

was told that DS wouldn't like the substitutes and his reaction is only mild. he seems to be growing out of it slowly. i did put him on soya formula for a few weeks when he was about 8m old and it still made him sick. at least he's not sick anymore. switching from formula to whole milk at 1y old helped. he also has reactions to apple, strawberry and banana.

DS gets a very bloated tummy, runny nose, eczema, constipation, and his asthma worsens considerably.

We didn't realise how bad the allergy was until we removed dairy completely (from milk to lecithins) from his diet. After a couple of weeks he was a different child.

Thanks for that. Not sure if it that as has calmed down again but am limiting dairy for her and me at moment anyway. She doesnt have any rash, eczema, asthma, etc. Just tummy troubles at time, wind and constipation. Maybe just dodgy tummy. anyway, am being careful so will let you know.
