I’m 28 and not ready for a baby - will my time come?

I’m 28 (nearly 29), in a stable relationship and with a flourishing career and my own home, but I just don’t feel ready to start a family. All my friends have children, but I just haven’t had the urge at all! I love babies and I love them being around, but I feel no real need to have one myself.

I’m hoping I wake up one day soon and I think it’s a good idea (I have always wanted children), but I feel like I am slowly running out of time. I also have PCOS which will make it harder to conceive.

Are there any other late bloomers on here that can give me some advice? I know 28 isn’t old but time soon flies by!

I was the same at 28. Started trying at 32 feeling like we had loads of time. Had first child at 37. I wish I'd done it earlier knowing what I do now - but hindsight is a wonderful thing - my parents are in their 70s and their health has deteriorated in the last few years and they can't help with childcare and will probably pass before my son's wedding. I may never meet my own grandchildren if my son marries late.

Also not having kids is fine! Surveys consistently show that childless couples are happier (except in Norway for some reason)!

Well you sound closer to having children than I was at that age. I wasn't interested in anyone elses kids. And at 35 I was only interested in very close friends kids. I have two kids now, had my 1st at 39
