Inductions

So we had our 36 week growth scan today followed by our consultant appointment.

DD decided to be a nugget yet again and not play ball for the sonographer so they couldn't get exact head measurements. Due to this she's estimated to be weighing under where she should. They're predicting currently 5lb7.

As a precaution I've now got to have a Doppler and placenta scan followed by another growth scan in 7 days (37+2). If she's still small they will book in induction for first possible slot.

Consultant already confirmed it would be 3 rounds of gel and not going home in between as I need to be on the monitor. If the gels don't work it would be c section.

I've heard nightmare stories for inductions. Anyone got any labour stories of them being good and how long did you spend in hospital.

I had an induction with DS at 37 weeks for the same reason. I went in on the Tuesday and had sweep and pessary. Nothing happened. I had another sweep and pessary on the Wednesday. Waters broke 2:00 on the Thursday. DS arrived at 7:30 that morning. It was really intense but quick. I was up and about within an hour. DS turned out to be bigger than they thought from the scan. It can be fine and I quite liked not having to manage any of my labour at home. If I am lucky enough to have another DC, I'd be perfectly happy to have another induction in the same circumstances. Good luck Thanks

Oh gosh, I had a failed epidural too (drip induction), the horror when I realised it hadn't worked! Contractions were so close together and fast, had to ditch the G&A.

Congratulations on your baby! It can take a while to process it all, it's completely normal, talking about it helps to process.

Wishing you all the best with your little one ❤

Congratulations! That is almost exactly how my induction went!

@Tiredpregnantmess try not to worry about all the storys hun . I was inducted with my 1st baby at 39 weeks because she stopped growing she was 5.4 I didn't even know she was coming to be honest it all happened so fast everybody is different . their is big bath you can go relax in and get a pregnant ball so don't worry yourself. Xx wishing baby safe and quick arrival

Not gonna lie, I had a 22 hour natural labour and 5.5 hour induced labour and the 22 hour natural was by far the easier of the 2, there's no break in contractions with an induction and they are way more intense than natural, fir me anyway.. But I got through it. Good luck.

Congrats Op! My growth scan was way off, my baby was estimated to be 8lb at birth (4lb 6oz at 32 weeks) and came at 38+1 weighing 5lb 11oz.

I was induced due to my waters breaking and no labour occurring and it was a positive experience for me. Post birth not so much 😅 I hope your mental state fares better than mine.

How much did your baby weigh in the end?

Aww that's a big difference. She came out at 5lb 12 and lost 2oz at her 3 day weigh in so 5lb10

Wow that's the first time I've heard of them getting the prediction pretty much spot on! She will be crazy in the night wanting to feed up if she's anything like mine 😅.

Hoping you have a speedy recovery. When the nights are hard just try and remember things won't be that hard forever

Congratulations on the arrival of your baby girl
