Setting up a mother and toddler drop in center?? Long post!

I would love to set up a drop in type center in my area, ( I work part-time, fri - sun) but am wondering how I should go about it. I want to have an idea on how much work it would take, before I approach a suitable venue.

I would like it to be open school hours - from 9 until 2. There are two primary schools within 10 mins of eachother where I live, and so I would like it to be near there. I thought maybe kitchen facilities, so all the kids, and of course mums, could bring a packed lunch and all eat together?? The thing is, I dont belong to any of the 6 churches in my 6000 strong community, and the youth center is quite small, so Im not sure if I could use either. And we would need some sort of grant for toys etc, rather than ask mums to pay high fees every day. Who would I approach for that?

There are currently two mt groups, one tues and thurs, the other just wed, from 10 to 12. I think I would feel guilty if I was to "steal" people away from those groups if they chose mine!

I thought about just having one on mondays, but unless I offer to open one of the existing ones the extra day there wouldnt be much point for the money that would be involved.

I am a youngish (20) single mum, and feel very lonely. I just thought that with this group we could maybe organise days out once in a while. Maybe even just for an hour to the local pool? And it would be a good way to really get to know other mums and build up my confidence (Im quite shy).

Im constantly talking myself in and out of this idea, and could use a push--in either direction!
