Almost 20mo has been sort of ill for about 6 days, not seemingly very ill but ill, doctors on Friday said he actually had ‘full blown’ tonsillitis and he’s been given antibiotics. Definite improvement since starting, his temp was only sporadically going up anyway but that’s not happened since yesterday morning now, he’s eating more and is more cheerful and happy in himself.

However he has had intermittently freezing cold hands and feet, when we’re cuddling or he gets warm (eg today in a cafe) it’s fine, but it’s like once they’re cold (he’s just been holding a cold apple) they struggle to warm back up himself.

I also just changed his nappy and his legs were a bit mottly, but the house is quite cold as we’ve just got in.

He’s not got a temp anymore and is running round the house chatting away. I’m torn, shall I wait and see how he feels in an hour? I know the above are alarming symptoms so I’m alarmed but he’s so okay in himself.

Hands are warming up now - just seem to take a while. They’re not warm but they’re not cold either now!

I don't know about his age but check out Reynauds syndrome. My DH has it and his fingers (and probably toes) go white like marble. He says they don't feel anything never mind cold but they do take time to come back to life and can be painful

What does he wear on his feet in the house ?
Has he got a couple of layers on his body ?

Interestingly my DD has almost exactly the same bug right now and bas very cold hands and feet. While it’s worrying in babies, I’m taking a view of having a full picture for her - she has decent wet nappies, eating and drinking fine and no temperature. So I’m not worried about her hands and feet as a stand-alone symptom

Thanks everyone. I just worked out he’s messed with the boiler this morning when playing in the kitchen so he’d turned the radiators right down. Hands warm again now - it just takes them a long time to heat up from when they’re cold.

Just checked his temp and it’s going for
37-37.5, he’s had 2.5 days of antibiotics so far. Temp spiked to around 38.5 this week so it’s lower than that but still on the higher side. Partner says I being silly as it’s not a temperature but I’d expect him to be back to ‘normal’ by now. Usually he’s between 36.2-37. Maybe I’ll see again in the morning, he’s been fine all day.
