I breastfed my daughter exclusively until 11 months then dropped her feeds one by one for me going back to work, so she now has 2 7oz bottles of alpro growing up (dairy intolerant) during the day, and one bottle just before bed.
She sleeps terribly and has done since she was 4 months old, and she periodically goes back to asking for feeds in the night, then dropping them again, then going back to them etc.I try and just offer water to her if possible as I think its just thirst, shes happy with water most of the time.
ANYWAY if she wakes up (or is still up) past about 5am I bring her into bed with us as otherwise she will howl waking up my 3 year old son, but she still wants a breastfeed in bed.
Unfortunately my milk supply is waning and now when she does feed, she wants to feed from 5am til 7am and would keep going if I let her, obviously this doesnt work for anyone sleep wise, also its painful due to her sucking a dry boob!
So my question is, is there anything I can give her to comfort her during the transition off the boob? I give her a dummy and little comforter toy but she usually chucks those because she wants the boob, and I try to cuddle her but she just claws at my dressing gown trying to get to my boobs, she does like rolling my skin between her fingers which is just about tolerable at 5am as long as her nails are short...
Any ideas welcome!
