Toddler burning to touch but no fever on thermometer?

Hi, waiting for docs to open at 8 but just wondered if anyone had come across this before.

18month old DS was sick 3 times in the car yesterday and off his food all day. Generally a bit grumpy and also a but clumsy but hasn't slept well the night before. As of 1.30am he has been burning up to touch - but 2 thermometers said and still say between 37.5 and 37.7.

Has anyone heard of this before? Could 2 thermometers be broken?

37.0 is normal. Anything above is usually (for most people) not. So I’d guess your thermometers are fine and your DS has a fever.

Hope he perks up soon.

Thank you @WiseUpJanetWeiss. In my sleep deprived state I hadn't thought about this as it was one of those fancy thermometers that goes red for a fever but it was still showing green. He feels a LOT hotter!

That's a low grade fever - not usually a problem in itself, but indicative of an infection. My son feels burning to the touch at that temp too.

Some people have a naturally high body temperature so 37.5 might be ok or just slightly high, but mostly people are around 36.8. I think it's 37.8 when it goes orange on our thermometer.
