Melted bit of plastic in steriliser - ok to carry on using?

I got a new pump and sterilised all the pieces in our steam steriliser in the microwave. The instructions said to sterilise everything apart from the handle. There was a cover that came off on something but wasn’t sure if it was part of the pump or not, so sterilised it anyway. It came out all misshapen so obviously shouldn’t have gone in the steriliser. Is it safe to carry on using the steriliser?! I’ve washed it and I guess it essentially self sterilises through use, but worried about plastic fumes/chemicals from the piece that melted?

Has the steriliser got plastic melted to it or did it all come out?

@Wole when I say melted, I just mean the piece got a bit misshapen, so no plastic stuck to the steriliser or anything like that x

Was worried about chemicals latching into the plastic of the steriliser and being released through use or something!
