Hello first time posting I am so worried my son has suddenly stopped eating solids. I have noticed a few weeks eating slower and not so much taking lots of drinks while eating. But the last 2 days refusing any solid food he will only eat yoghurt and soup. No bits at all to go into his mouth. At meal times he panics the look of fear on his face is heartbreaking. We have been to A&E because he thought there was something in his throat nothing there maybe tenderness due to some reflux but told it should settle after a few days and no mediation given. I am terrified this is going to escalate and he won’t eat solids again. He hasn’t choked himself but he mentioned on time his sister did which was a while ago. He was a great eater up until this point. It’s so tough seeing him like this.

@Ljmac154 I started a similar thread just over a month ago - I’ve linked it below as there was some good advice from others:

I’m pleased to report that things have significantly improved for my DS since then. He’s now eating a much wider range of foods, although still not completely back to normal. I have tried to be super laid back about it all and for a couple of weeks just gave him exactly what he wanted and very slowly reintroduced other things.

Thank you so much for adding your thread I have got some tips from it. Today is day 3 I made up a picnic of things I knew he would eat frubes, mousse I put a few things he wouldn’t and we added some wotsits and know it’s not nutritious but he ate them, I explained they would melt on his tongue and he was fine with that. I was so pleased then he tried some mashed potato and gravy this evening. He ate it all. He said his throat is feeling better than it was a few days ago it says it tickles I am thinking it could have been reflux that has irritated his throat and he thought it was something stuck. I am being laid back about it he is in control. I can see things progressing already.

@Ljmac154 that’s great, sounds like there has been some good progress already. The softly softly approach was definitely needed with my DS, he didn’t respond well at all to me getting frustrated (unsurprisingly!) we’ve definitely come a long way in a month so hopefully your DS will too.
