18 months and not walking yet

DS is turning 18 months on Sunday and is yet to walk on his own. I'm not worried because he walks really well holding one of my fingers, cruises super fast, crawls at speed, even goes up and down the stairs super fast but you back can't take much more of having to carry him when we're out.

And not to mention having to answer people about how old he is and yes he's not walking yet

What can I do to help him get confident about trying on his own? He's very careful and risk averse and took his time with all gross motor skills.

He's done it!!! He turned 18 months on the 27th and yesterday he stood on his own for the first time and today he's started walking! 😃😃😃😃

Well done MiniPinkGin! We told you he’d do it in his own time! Probably no stopping him now and you’ll spend your time running after him. Or he’ll do what a friend’s DC did which was to walk one day for a reasonable distance then take another month before walking again.

Haha thank you! Well it's coming in bits and pieces now, he looks really pleased with himself when he's waddling around but still prefers crawling as it's super quick. For now it seems to be a party trick for hun but I'm sure it will become second nature soon!

DD1 walked at 18 months, I walked at 20 months!

Please don't worry. I did, but she was absolutely fine. She's 24 now and a lazy bugger! You've just got a chilled out bubba who's in no rush, enjoy it
