Why are all nursing clothes also maternity?!

Is anyone else annoyed by this?! Im finding it really hard to find breastfeeding tops and dresses that are just normal and not also maternity. I've found very few and expensive options but I would say 95% are maternity with a nursing option. I'm 8 weeks post c section so haven't lost all the baby weight but can wear most of my normal tops and dresses and don't want big billowy clothes that make my tummy look bigger than it is! Also, any one have any suggestions on good brands that offer nursing but not maternity clothes at a decent price?!

Try looking on the Sainsbury website they have a section of clothes which you can bf in rather than just bf clothes.

I've got a few breastfeeding tops from H&M, size 10 and not maternity. I'm being very presumptuous as I'm 8 months pregnant😬.

I only bought a few tees and vests from H&M, they were normal fitting and not maternity. I also found it really strange. My bump went pretty quickly so I absolutely did not need maternity clothes.

I bought almost no nursing tops, just some nursing bras then wore primark vests to pull down and a long sleeved top over the top

I gave up and did the one up, one down method. That's a breast feeding vest top that clips down with any top that's flexible over. I was lucky and button through dresses were in (Kate Middleton wore one) and that also worked with the vest top.

There are Facebook groups dedicated to it.

No I like It because you get longer use out of one item of clothing..

It can go the other way too, upper top down and vest top up

Another vote for Bshirt. I had a couple of the vests which were great for the one up, one down method - much easier than vests with clips. They also do some long sleeved tops and t-shirts etc so might be worth a look. Can be pricey but they usually have some sort of offer on.

I struggle to find any too.

As PP said, Sainsbury's have a section that has grouped clothes you can breastfeed in.

Mainly I just wear a vest top (any regular spaghetti strap vest top) and any other top I like over it. Pull that up at one side and pull the vest top down.

This was an issue for me too! Another vote for H&M - they have breastfeeding clothes that are not maternity. I had a lot of their nursing vests which I wore under normal tshirts/jumpers, as well as some of their nursing (non maternity) dresses.

Thanks all, I have been doing the one uo one down method with a strap top, but with the weather getting warmer I just want a light floaty cami or blouse and not layers, even just a button front cami or blouse would be great. Annoyingly a lot if shops like the button 'detail' rather than functional buttons 🤦🏻‍♀️ if it was winter it wouldn't be an issue as layers are fine and loose jumpers with a strap top work, but just struggling with this warmer weather. I've resorted to cheap wrap dresses from shein that pull down quite easily if anyone else is looking!

Try the "Breastvest" (Google it). Saved me in summer. I was sooooo hot with hormones etc.

There's a Swedish (I think) company called BOOB -always fun for the postman to deliver that parcel- and they have lovely breastfeeding options. Not cheap, but they do have reasonably frequent sales. I wore and wore their vests and tops. Otherwise, another recommendation for BShirts and H&M.

Check eBay for bargains, as a lot of people sell on the expensive nursing clothes they have finished with. A dungaree dress or zip front jump suit can be a good option too for access or when it was really hot I just wore a normal vest top and pulled it down. I just used to drape a Muslin across my shoulder to give me a bit of cover (not over bubs though). I am fairly confident though feeding after 3 babies 🤣

I just wore normal clothes that were a bit breast feeding friendly as I found the same problem. Either things I could easily pull down and then a clip down bra underneath, or a normal top with a primark vest top underneath so I could pull my normal top up and pull the vest down enough under my bra.

I’m struggling with this too! It was fine over winter layering a sweater over a vest top but now it’s just far too hot for layers! I’ve been looking at shirt dresses but I’m not really a dress person!

Even though it says 'maternity and nursing' it's much more the latter (it would have been far too tight for most of my pregnancy!). It looks like they have some nice summer dresses too.
