Do many babies still cry and fuss at bedtime or just mine?!

Wondering if I’m alone... as fear all other parents have a really lovely bedtime routine; bath, cosy feed, book and bed.

We have a routine, and baby can self settle - but it’s not exactly a dream scenario. She still fusses, cries a fair bit, and even when finally in her crib and although she can SS, she still tosses about a lot and shouts out. Wondering what I’m doing wrong?!??

Some just do fuss a lot. How old is she?

Ha!

Don't believe everything you read. Sounds normal to me, sorry. You will get through it, hopefully your partner is pulling his weight?

I read somewhere that sometimes they just need to fuss to release tension from the day's sensory stimulation. I don't think you're doing anything wrong. The thing I read (can't remember where sorry) mentioned something about releasing tension though laughter instead e.g. tickles, peek a boo. Worth a try??

Thanks all! She’s 7 months. I can’t seem to get the timings right for bedtime. Too early and she won’t be ready or finish a bottle, and too late and I’ve let her get ‘overtired’!!!

OP mine had a full on meltdown every bedtime till 18months 🙈 looking back it was fairly horrific but we had the same bath/milk/bed routine from 3 weeks old and tried everything to make her happier but nothing worked till she grew up a bit.

Even now (27mo) it can be a delicate time of day and we alternate it between DH and I to give ourselves a break.

Good luck, I hope yours settles sooner than mine did! When it comes to these kind of parenting things you are never alone ❤️

She’s just winding down op sounds very normal!

Tears every bedtime and naptime here (9 months). It's not fun.

Wow I really had no idea. I genuinely felt like I’m the only one dealing with these battles: we had successfully ‘sleep trained’ her recently and she was able to fall asleep independently which felt great, but suddenly (a house move and first two teeth cutting through) it has gone to pot completely!!

Tomorrow is a new day 🙏
